A higher PREN number is indicative that an alloy, which in this case is super duplex stainless steel tends to have a much higher resistance in compared to austenitic stainless steel grade. Moreover, the F55 Material also offers superior corrosion resistance properties in addition to the higher tensile strength. However, its high strength in combination with the higher contents of Cr, Ni, Mo, N and even W promotes the formation of intermetallic phases, while being difficult to process.
