A182 F55 Bolts
Super duplex stainless steel fasteners such as the A182 F55 Bolts have been developed in order to meet specific demands not only of the oil& gas but also those of the chemical industries. An attractive feature of this alloy grade is that they have superior resistance to pitting. This being said, most of our clients belonging to the chemical processing as well as the oil and gas industry choose using the ASTM A182 Gr f55 threaded rod while building different types of equipment for their work station, primarily because the alloy has a PREN value ranging from 38 - 45.

A higher PREN number is indicative that an alloy, which in this case is super duplex stainless steel tends to have a much higher resistance in compared to austenitic stainless steel grade. Moreover, the F55 Material also offers superior corrosion resistance properties in addition to the higher tensile strength. However, its high strength in combination with the higher contents of Cr, Ni, Mo, N and even W promotes the formation of intermetallic phases, while being difficult to process.
In fact, the impact resistance of the steel grade ASTM A182 f55 super duplex Stud Bolt has is drastically reduced due to the formation of intermetallic phases. Faulty processing of this alloy used to manufacture will result in poor performance of the Super duplex f55 Nuts.
