904L is an unstabilized highly alloyed, low carbon stainless steel grade belonging to the austenitic class of steels. What makes 904L different from the other austenitic alloys is the significant content of copper in its alloy. The addition of copper in its alloy plays a major role in its resistance to acids, especially solutions containing sulfuric acid.
